High Point Awards program announced for 2016

Trophies2The Western Dressage Association of Georgia is now offering a new and exciting 2016 High Point Award Program. This affordable program is open to all riders at all of the Western Dressage levels.
The award program year is December 1, 2015 to November 31, 2016. There are divisions for Amateur, Open and Youth. The cost is $20 per horse/rider combination per level (and $15 for youth). There are five levels to choose from: Intro, Basic, Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3.

Next you send us your test(s). You need a minimum of four tests from the 10 qualifying shows in Georgia with four different judges. Your test sheets need to be sent in no later than 30 days after the show with the exception of December and January, when you have 90 days. There are awards for overall High Point – Open, Amateur and Youth, as well as individual level High Point awards. You need to be a member of WDAGA and WDAA to enter. I encourage all of you to get out and ride, enjoy your horses and possibly earn some awards along the way. Remember it’s all about the journey!

High Point Rules:

  • One horse/one rider/level
  • Entry Fee: $20 Open, $20 Amateur$15 Youth
  • Divisions:  Open, Amateur, Youth (under 18).
  • Overall high point in each division and individual level high points in each division.
  • Open to all participants who are Western Dressage Association of America and Western Dressage Association of Georgia members.
  • Points count in Introductory, Basic, First Level, Second Level, Third Level; no freestyle or specialty classes, such as Western Dressage Equitation, Western Dressage Suitability.
  • Must ride in a minimum of four WDAGA qualifying shows under four (4) different judges (per level).
  • Rider submits an application, fees and test sheet(s) with judge’s signature and percentage score.
  • Rider subsequently submits copy of test sheet(s) containing judge’s signature and percentage score to info@wdageorgia.org subject “High Points.”
  • Test sheet must be legible & have the horse/rider’s name; Scan, email or snail mail to: Nicole Parks, 706 Tribal Trail, Woodstock, GA 30188. No cell phone photos please; If test is received without required information or is not legible, it may be discarded.
  • Scores will be verified with show management before qualifying for high point submission.
  • Top four percentage scores will be added to calculate total points; lower scores will be discarded.
  • In case of a tie, the horse/rider with the highest single score is the winner; if the highest scores are the same, the next highest scores will be considered until the tie is broken.
  • Level high points will be calculated in the same manner as Overall high point. Points are accumulated for each level in which horse/rider entered.
  • Total points will be posted on the Western Dressage Association of Georgia website: www.wdageorgia.org
  • Awards will be presented at the Annual WDAGA meeting in January 2017.
  • High Point year will be December 1, 2015 through November 30, 2016.
